Jake Hughes heads to Barcelona for round six

The third weekend of an FIA Formula 3 triple-header sees Jake Hughes and his HWA RACELAB team head to Barcelona, Spain, for round six and on the back of Jake’s first podium finish of the year at Silverstone.

After three frustrating rounds to start the year, Jake put his campaign back on track with two successful race weekends at his home race at Silverstone, picking up 35 points and his first podium of the year across the two weekends.

Heading to Barcelona this weekend, Jake currently sits 11th in the Drivers Championship with 35.5 points and having contributed the majority of his HWA RACELAB’s 39.5 points.

Jake’s record at the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona has seen him record two podium finishes in the GP3 Series and he’ll be hoping to replicate that form this weekend as he hopes to keep his momentum running from Silverstone into the third weekend of the FIA Formula 3 triple-header.

The 4.655-kilometre Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has a good mix of high and low-speed corners, meaning a well-balanced car is key to a good result at the Spanish circuit. Overtaking spots are also minimal, putting a greater emphasis on qualifying this Friday.

“I'm really looking forward to getting to Barcelona, it’s always a fun track to drive and an enjoyable challenge to get the car setup right on Friday for the weekend. We normally come here earlier in the season, so temperatures will be higher and a new challenge for us but we are ready and can’t wait to get started. Silverstone was a good couple of rounds for me and the team, so we’ll be pushing to keep that rolling into this weekend.”
