Meet Jake

Jake Hughes is a leading British racing driver, competing in the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship with Van Amersfoort Racing.

Jake was born on 30 May 1994 and came late to motorsport, starting karting just before his 16th birthday.

In his first year racing cars, Jake won the inaugural BRDC Formula 4 Championship in 2013. Two years in Formula Renault yielded race wins and consistent challenge for championships.  After testing GP3, F3 and 3.5 V8 cars, Jake selected GP3 with DAMS as the most competitive championship to race.

Since then, Jake has enjoyed much success across a range of series with regular race wins in FIA Formula 3, GP3 Series and FIA F3 European Championship. He has dovetailed these campaigns with a development role at Formula One World Champions, Mercedes AMG - assisting with both their Formula 1 and Formula E programmes.

When he’s not racing, Jake spends his time training and preparing for the next race. He also relaxes with friends and supports Aston Villa Football Club.
